If brown rice is your staple, you can give your baby at 6 months. Otherwise white rice is easily digestible for babies. After 6 months completion, Consult with your baby's doctor n start solids.. Start with veg or fruit purees . Slowly move to mashed foods by a month or so..Banana, apple, carrot, pumpkin are great first foods. Next chikku, papaya, beets, bottle gourd, rice porridge , ragi porridge etc. one meal a day will do for 6 months.. Avoid salt, sugar honey till one year. Exclusive breastfeeding or formula feeding is recommended till 6 months. As baby's tummy is not matured enough to handle solid foods till 6 months. If you feel your baby is weak, you should consult the same with your doctor.

Hi I really liked your recipe of rice porridge and I tried making it yesterday but I guess I roast it in pan for longer time as the rice grains turned light brown and the powder is also of brown colour.can you give an idea as for how many minutes rice should be dry roast in pan so I can get perfect rice powder

    13. gkfooddiary

      June 23, 2017 at 1:52 am

You should roast the rice in low flame until it's hot to touch and little puffy. It may take 3-5 minutes. Again the timing depends on the size and type of a pan used

how much rice you have taken? if its large quantity and the pan size is small, it can not be dry roasted evenly. also you should do continuous stirring for best results.

      hi,
i just did a sample test with a hand full of rice...the pan was a large kadai nd i continuously stirred too....do moisture contnt cause such issues....can i only use the rice that puffed up evenly for my baby..?
      thnks dr

try with small kadai if quantity is less...the end product shouldn't contain any moisture so that it gets powdered nicely...do everything in low medium flame
