Ragi is one of the super food for babies as it's rich in Iron & Calcium. I usually make plain ragi porridge with this homemade sprouted ragi powder. When I posted this Apple suji kheer it was a super hit and liked by many readers. So I experimented the same apple combo with ragi too and finally ended up with this ragi apple halwa. To my surprise it turned out super yummy and my little doll loved it too.

Delicious ragi halwa with apple is ready to feed your baby.
Notes :
- For small babies, use smooth apple pure and add more water or formula milk if it becomes too thick after cooling down.
- Adding jaggery is purely optional. Add it if the sweetness of apples are not sufficient.
- Offer this halwa plain when you start. Try to avoid jaggery/ palm sugar/ palm jaggery or any kind of sweetner at least till one year, Add very little amount than mentioned if needed.
- I used pure organic jaggery so added as such. If your jaggery has impurities, heat jaggery with water till it immersed level and strain the jaggery water in order to remove impurities.
- Instead of pureeing the apples, you can mash it and add.
- There is no defined ratio for apples & ragi. You can alter as per your preference and liking.
- When selecting apples, choose sweet tasting apples.
- Choose apples that are firm and discolored.
- Generally ragi or apple doesn't cause any allergies, but check for symptoms and stop feeding your baby if you find any.
- Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.
- This ragi apple halwa becomes little thick when cooled down. So switch off the flame accordingly.
