Sweet potato dosa - easy dosa recipe prepared with idli dosa batter and sweet potatoes. Sweet potato is one of the nutrient rich vegetable that should be a part of growing kids healthy diet. Hence I used to look for ways include this healthy veggie in my little ones diet. This sweet potato dosa is my recent try, should say my little one absolutely loved it. Sweet Potato Dosa Recipe for Babies, Toddlers and Kids
Sweet potato dosa - dosa recipe made with idli dosa batter and sweet potatoes. Easy and healthy breakfast for babies, toddlers & kids.

- For Sweet Version
- Dosa Batter - 1 cup
- Grated Sweet Potato - ½ cup
- Organic Jaggery powder - ¼ cup
- <g class="gr_ gr_375 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="375" data-gr-id="375">Cocount</g> scrapped - 1 tbsp
- Cardamom - 1
- Water - as required
- Salt - a pinch
- Sesame Oil/ghee - for making dosas
- For Savoury Version
- Dosa Batter - 1 cup
- Grated Sweet Potato - ½ cup
- Red <g class="gr_ gr_377 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="377" data-gr-id="377">chilles</g> - 2 to 3
- Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
- Asafoetida/Hing - ⅛ tsp
- Water - as required
- Salt - as required
- Sesame Oil/ghee - for making dosas
Instructions
Preparation:
- Wash the sweet potatoes well in running water <g class="gr_ gr_376 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="376" data-gr-id="376">throughly</g>. Then peel the skin and grate them using a grater.
For Sweet Version:
- In a blender, add grated sweet potatoes, jaggery, scrapped coconut, powdered <g class="gr_ gr_346 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="346" data-gr-id="346">cardamom</g> and salt. Add <g class="gr_ gr_347 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" id="347" data-gr-id="347">little</g> water and grind it to a smooth paste.
- Now add the ground sweet potato mix to the dosa batter and mix well. The batter should be slightly thick like regular dosa batter. Heat a dosa <g class="gr_ gr_373 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="373" data-gr-id="373">tawa</g>, add a <g class="gr_ gr_374 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="374" data-gr-id="374">laddle</g> of batter to it and spread it to form a circle. Don't spread too much. Sprinkle ghee or oil.
- Cook until brown on one side for five minutes and flip the dosa. Cook for a minute and remove from <g class="gr_ gr_338 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="338" data-gr-id="338">tawa</g>. Repeat the same process for the remaining batter.
For Savoury Version:
- In a <g class="gr_ gr_354 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="354" data-gr-id="354">blender ,</g> add red <g class="gr_ gr_353 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace" id="353" data-gr-id="353">chillies</g>, grated sweet potatoes, cumin seeds and <g class="gr_ gr_360 gr-alert gr_spell gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="360" data-gr-id="360">hing</g>. Add <g class="gr_ gr_355 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins doubleReplace replaceWithoutSep" id="355" data-gr-id="355">little</g> water and grind it to a smooth paste. Now add the ground sweet potato mix to the dosa batter and mix well. The batter should be slightly thick like regular dosa batter.

2.Heat a dosa tawa, add a laddle of batter to it and spread it to form a circle (thick or thin as per your choice). Sprinkle ghee or oil. Cook until brown on one side for five minutes and flip the dosa. Cook for a minute and remove from tawa. Repeat the same process for the remaining batter.
The super healthy and tasty sweet potato dosa is ready !

Notes :
- For small babies, you can skip jaggery and coconut for the sweet version. Just mash the dosa's with your hands or just dip in warm water and give.
- For sweet version, don't make the batter watery and don't spread the dosa's thin. If it's watery, the dosa's will stick to the pan. For the savoury version , you can spread it thin.
- If your jaggery has impurities, please melt it , strain and use jaggery water.
- Make sure to introduce everything separate, before you try this sweet potato dosas to your baby.
- Adding salt is not recommended until 1 year of age.
- Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.
