Nuts Powder Recipe for Babies, Toddlers and Kids

Homemade Nuts powder - One of the quite essential health mix powder for babies, toddlers, and Kids! I have already posted a version of dry fruits powder earlier, but my search for a perfect nuts powder recipe, which can be mixed with milk without any traces of powder (like commercial health drinks) ends here. Hence I wanted to share this version of nuts powder with tips and tricks to get fine powder without lumps.

When to introduce this nuts powder to babies?

This Homemade nuts powder can be given to babies age eight months plus after introducing each nuts separate (one at a time) in paste or powdered form by adding to baby food. Once you introduced each nuts separate and ruled out allergies, try this nuts powder.

When you start, begin with ½ teaspoon of this powder and check whether the baby shows any allergic reaction. Check it for three days, and if the baby is not allergic to it, you can increase the amount gradually.

How to use this homemade nuts powder?

You could consume this nuts powder in the below ways.
    • Use this powder to make nuts milk. Add it to milk and offer as a health drink to toddlers and adults. Check this recipe for nuts milk preparation.
    • Add a teaspoon of it to purees, mashed food, vegetable soups, cereals, porridge's, milkshakes, smoothies, etc. while cooking to increase the nutritional value and taste!
    • Stuff into pulkas/parathas.
    • Use this nut powder to make instant ladoos, cookies, etc.

Important points to consider while preparing nuts powder:

    • Don't dry roast the nuts for too long as it may leave out the oil. Dry roast it each nut until it is hot to touch, or You could simply sun dry them and grind too.
    • Never run the mixer/blender for more than 10 seconds when grinding as nuts may leave out oil if you blend continuously, use pulse option in the mixie/blender.
    • Sieve it well to get a fine powder.
    • Grinding the nuts with sugar helps to get a fine powder.
Here is how to make homemade nuts powder for babies, toddlers, and kids.

      Hi,
My baby is turning 2 next month. Although he love to drink plain milk with dates syrup, I just want to flavor it more with this powder. Could you please tell me whether I can add all dry fruits I.e,
      Pistachios
      Almonds
      Cashews
      Walnuts
      Pecans
      Hazelnuts
      Macadamia
      Raisins
And can I take equal proportions except raisins?
      Please tell me the proportions.

      Thank you,
      Pavani.

All Nuts you can take in equal proportions. When you add dry fruits add very little amount as it may make the nuts powder as a paste. Also make sure that your baby is not allergic to any of the ingredient you mentioned above.

Okay. You said - when you add dry fruits add little amount. I didn't understand. U mean to take 1/4cup each except raisins is okay?

And another concern. Can I add any flours to this to use it like horlicks. I mean 1tbsp for 1 glass milk?

    5. gkfooddiary

      November 22, 2016 at 4:12 pm

Yes you can add 2-3 tbsp of raisins max . This nuts powder has a nice flavour with cardamom, nuts and saffron. If you want to use it like horlicks, you should sieve the powder well as mentioned in the preparation above.

Thank you so much for your replies. I just want to powder to mix in milk daily. Can I add jaggery instead of palm sugar? And can we blend dry fruits alone without mixing with jaggery? I want to add dates syrup for sweetness

    9. gkfooddiary

      November 23, 2016 at 4:14 pm

Yes you can make this powder without jaggery. Adding jaggery while grinding may release moisture. So please avoid

      Hi
Can we make powder from store bought roasted nuts. Here in American store I have found roasted cashews etc., this one I tried ... half powder I sieved and half not. It's powdered nice still my baby is not liking and it's getting struck in holes of baby sipper... for sieving I have used plastic siever... am not getting it's being blocked plastic siever. Please help me

    11. gkfooddiary

      December 05, 2016 at 5:18 am

Fine siever works best. You can try feeding through a glass and spoon otherwise. Tiny particles won't choke.

I sieved it into fine powder. It's not dissolving in milk right... it's like powder only... my baby is 24months old... he is not liking it. How the powder will get dissolved in milk like other commercial health drinks?

    16. gkfooddiary

      December 05, 2016 at 9:10 pm

If you sieved properly, then most of it will get resolved while boiling milk. Though am not sure whether it will pass through baby sipper. As I have tried only with glass

    17. pav

      December 05, 2016 at 9:24 pm

Okay... actually am mixing 1tsp to warm milk. I think that's the problem... I have to boil the milk after adding nuts powder right?

Hello mam. After going through lot of content regarding health drink for children, i got your link. Before getting your link i have tried making this dry fruit powder, but it didn't come well. Even my wife, mother in law, didn't believe in this recipe. They were behind all the brands in tv. I was just opposite to it. Mam my question now is can i give this to my 6yrs old daughter? Also can we take this as a total family drink for everyone. Thanks in advance mam.
