    Dry fruits powder for babies

I am thinking for a long time to post this dry fruits powder for babies. I made a batch of this dry fruits powder & homemade cerelac powder/Sathu mavu powder (recipe soon) last time in bulk. I was waiting for the powders to got over and make a new batch & click it. Finally I made both the powders last weekend!!!! Check my other version of nuts powder here with tips and tricks on how to gets fine powder without any lumps.

This dry fruits powder can be given to babies of age eight months plus after introducing each nuts separately to your baby. It can be added to the porridge's, desserts or even purees. When you start add ¼ teaspoon of this dry fruits powder to the baby food and check whether she shows any allergic reaction. Check it for 3 days and if the baby is not allergic to it, you can increase the amount to ½ teaspoon to 1 tsp.

For toddlers, it can be added to milk and make it as dry fruits milk. Please check the notes section for more information regarding this dry fruits powder. Here is how to make dry fruits powder for babies.

    Notes :

    • You can store this dry fruits powder in airtight container and keep it in refrigerator. It stays well for a month.
    • Blanch almonds and remove skin while making this powder for small babies.
    • Adding roasted gram dal is purely optional. It helps to make porridge thick when you add this dry fruits powder to the porridge. For making dry fruits milk its not necessary so skip it if you are preparing this powder exclusively to add in milk.
    • Adding small amount of dry ginger helps in digestion. Feel free to skip it if you think your baby may not like the dry ginger flavor.
    • Make sure you cool down completely after roasting & blending. Otherwise it will let out moisture.
    • Don't blend it for more time, as the nuts may leave oil.
    • Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.

    13. gkfooddiary

      November 19, 2015 at 5:25 pm

There may be two reasons.. May be u grinded too much or the nuts are not dry roasted well.. You could store this in freezer n add to gravies.. If its not burnt

Almonds without skin would be better for babies if made in large amount. In this recipe, I have used only less amount so i made it with skin.

    56. Kalyani

      September 04, 2018 at 11:34 am

If your powder is super fine (with a powerful blender), it will dissolve in milk completely. Otherwise, you can mix a tsp of dry fruits powder with 2 tbsp of milk and mix it like a paste. Add it to boiling milk at the last stage. It helps to dissolve.

      Hi Mam,
I prepared this and like others, I too ended up grinding walnut longer and having it oily. I am storing it in fridge. My conern is, I tasted that and it tasted a bit odd. Is it ok if I still give it to my baby, as I had prepared it in bulk. and how long such powder would stay well?

      Please guide me.

    70. Kalyani

      July 03, 2020 at 10:36 pm

You can store it in the fridge and use it for 3-4 months. If you have added more walnut, it may taste bitter. if the taste is not good, don't give it for baby
