    Ingredients

    • Bajra Flour/Kambu Maavu - ¼ cup
    • Dates - 3
    • Raisins - 5
    • Powdered palm Jaggery or jaggery - 1 tbsp optional
    • Water - 2 cups
    • Cardamom powder - a pinch
    • Ghee - 1 tsp

    Instructions

    • Keep all the ingredients ready. soak dates and raisins  in warm water for at least 10 minutes. Measure jaggery (if using) and keep aside. I used organic jaggery without impurities, melt jaggery and strain water if using jaggery with impurities. After 10 minutes,in  a blender grind soaked dates and raisins together to a fine paste by adding little water.
    • In a saucepan, take the bajra flour and add dates raisins paste and crushed or powdered cardamom. Add water and mix well without any lumps.
    • Now cook everything in a low flame for 5 minutes or until the bajra gets cooked well. Stir it continuously otherwise it gets stick to the bottom. Adjust with water if it's getting too thick.
    • Once the bajra flour is cooked, add powdered palm jaggery or palm jaggery syrup (if using). Mix well and cook until the porridge consistency is reached and the nice aroma comes. It may take 5 minutes. Once done, add ghee if desired and switch off the flame.

    • Grind dates and raisins to a smooth paste for small babies.
    • You could also add ½ cup of milk after cooking the porridge for babies above one year.
    • You can use any sweetener of your choice.
    • Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.
    • This bajra porridge becomes thick when cooled down. So switch off the flame accordingly.

It would be in context if we keep in mind the benefits of A2* type of milk over A1* type of (* beta casein) milk.
Specially where infants, elderly , ailing or convalescing are involved.
Today's commercially available milk has too many horror stories including adulteration with chemicals and ACRYLIC PAINT..
