    Notes :

    • Store the Ragi milk powder in an airtight container. It keeps well for 1-2 months in the room temperature or in the refrigerator.
    • Squeeze out and extract the milk slowly so that you get the milk entirely and no husk.
    • If you forgot to soak the ragi overnight, soak it in hot water for 3 to 4 hours & continue with the remaining steps.
    • Make sure the ragi gets cooked thoroughly.
    • Consistency is purely your choice. Add boiled water to adjust consistency.
    • This porridge becomes thick after cooling down, so add boiled water to adjust the consistency if needed.
    • Adding sweetener is your preference.  It tastes good even without that.
    • For toddlers, you can add a pinch of salt. It tastes yum.
    • Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.
    • Offer this porridge plain when you start. Try to avoid jaggery/ palm sugar/ palm jaggery or any sweetener at least till one year, Add minimal amount than mentioned or prefer sweet-tasting fruits/vegetables like apple, banana, carrot, etc. or dry fruits like dates or raisins.

Hi, Thanks a lot for the recipes. Quite helpful as we are about to start solid food for our baby. Do you have any suggestion on blender that can be used for making rice/ragi powders as well as other powders/purees

for powders, I would suggest powerful blenders like Preeti or Vitamix . for purees I used magic bullet and Philips avent

Ragi milk powder stays good for a month or two if appropriately handled. And yes, you can keep it in the refrigerator.

If the ragi is dried for too long or weather is humid, it may turn sour. if it tastes too sour, better not to give it to baby

The slight sour smell from ragi is typical. If it is dried completely, you can grind it now.
