Fenugreek leaves are loaded with fiber, iron, and vitamins. Its good for kids with less appetite and breastfeeding moms.

    Fenugreek Leaves Soup - Easy and healthy soup for babies and kids with fenugreek leaves & mild spices.

    Ingredients

    • Fresh Fenugreek Leaves - 1 cup
    • Onions - 2 tablespoon finely chopped
    • Tomato - 1 small
    • Garlic - 3 small cloves finely chopped
    • Moong dal - 1.5 tbsp
    • Salt - as required
    • Turmeric powder - ⅛ tsp
    • Pepper powder - ½ tsp
    • Water -1.5 cups
    • Sesame Oil- 1 Tsp
    • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp

    Instructions

    • Wash fenugreek leaves in running water well. Soak moong dal in water for 10 minutes. Finely chop onions, tomato & garlic. Keep all the other ingredients ready.
    • In a pressure cooker, heat a teaspoon of oil and add cumin seeds. Let it splutter. Then add garlic. Saute them for two minutes. Now add onions. Fry them nicely until golden brown.
    • Now add tomato and fry them until mushy. Then add in washed fenugreek leaves. Give a quick stir.
    • Add soaked moong dal and mix well.
    • Add 1.5 cup of water. Sprinkle required salt and turmeric powder. Pressure cook everything together for two whistles in medium low flame. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker.
    • Mash the soup well with a masher or transfer the pressure cooked fenugreek to a blender with water used for cooking). Grind it to a smooth puree. Sprinkle pepper powder and serve the soup warm!

    Venthiyam Soup Recipe for Babies, Toddlers and Kids

    Method:

    5. Add 1.5  cup of water. Sprinkle required slat and turmeric powder. Pressure cook everything together for two whistle in medium low flame. Once the pressure is released open the cooker.

    6. Mash the soup well with a masher or alternatively transfer the pressure cooked fenugreek  to a blender with a water used for cooking) . Grind it to a smooth puree. Sprinkle pepper powder and serve the soup warm!

    Notes :

    • Make sure to wash the fenugreek leaves well to get rid of mud if any.
    • Adjust pepper powder according to your preference.
    • Dont use more water for pressure cooking. otherwise, the soup will be watery.
    • Always check with your pediatrician before introducing any new food.
    • Skip salt for babies below one year.

      ?it turned supertasty though I skipped Dal as my lo doesn't like it but include other vegs. The fenugreek gives a refreshing taste to the soup
