- Whole Wheat Flour - ¼ cup
- Apple - 1 medium-sized apple
- Dates - 3 nos
- Jaggery powder or sugar - 1 tbsp optional
- Homemade Ghee - 1 tsp
- Water - ¾ cup
Method
Keep all the ingredients ready. Soak dates in hot water for 5 minutes. Peel the apple with a peeler. Remove the seeds. Chop them into cubes.
Puree the apple using a blender along with soaked dates without adding any water. For blending I use
Philips Avent Combined Steamer and Blender
Take 2 tablespoon of wheat flour in a pan and add ghee. Roast it in low flame for 5 minutes until a nice aroma comes. Take care not to burn the wheat flour.
Then add ¾ cup of water to it. Mix it well with a whisk so that no lumps are formed. Cook the wheat in low, medium flame for 5 minutes or until the wheat gets cooked entirely and becomes shiny. Stir it continuously while cooking; otherwise, it may stick to the vessel. Once it is cooked, add pureed apples and jaggery powder (if using).
Mix well. Cook it further for three more minutes with continuous stirring. Switch off the flame when it becomes thick. The halwa becomes a little thick after cooling down. So switch off the flame accordingly.
