Chickpeas mash with vegetables for babies

Ingredients

  • Black channa/Chickpeas - 4 tbsp
  • Potato - 1 small sized
  • Tomato - 1 small sized
  • Water - as needed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Sterilise the bowls and spoons used for feeding your baby in a vessel with hot water for five minutes and keep it immersed in the same vessel until use.

Method

  • Wash potato and tomato in running water well. Discard the seeds fro tomato. Then peel the skin off from potato with a peeler. Then chop potato & tomato into equal sized small cubes. Set aside. Soak the chickpeas overnight or at least 4 hours. Wash the chickpeas/black channa and pressure cook it with a cup of water for 6 whistles or until done. Once the pressure released from the cooker, open it. Keep aside
  • Steam the tomato & potato pieces in a steamer for 15 minutes. Alternatively You can steam it with Idli steamer plate by adding a cup of water or pressure cook it with a cup of water for 2 whistles. For both steaming and blending i use
  • Philips Avent Combined Steamer and Blender
  • Once the tomato & potato are steamed, it will be soft and transparent. Now blend it along with cooked chickpeas little water for 30 seconds to make a mash. Alternatively you can also mash it with a masher instead of using a blender.
