Ingredients

  • Ragi Flour - 1 cup
  • Whole White Urad Dal - ½ cup
  • Whole Cardamom - 2 nos or Cardamom powder -½ tsp
  • Dry ginger - a small piece or Dry ginger powder - ½ tsp

Preparation

  • Prepare homemade ragi flour from scratch. Check the method for preparing homemade ragi powder here. If using store-bought ragi flour, use organic ones, and skip this step.

Method

  • Measure all the ingredients using a measuring cup, as mentioned in the ingredients table & keep it ready. Firstly, Dry roast the urad dal in low, medium flame until golden brown. It may take 5 minutes. Set aside to cool down.
  • Now add the roasted urad dal along with dry ginger and cardamom to a blender.
  • Grind everything to a smooth powder. Now Dry roast the ragi flour in low, medium flame until nice aroma comes. It may take 5 minutes. Set aside.
  • Now mix the ground urad dal cardamom dry ginger powder mix to the roasted ragi flour. Sieve the ground urad dal powder with roasted ragi powder using a sieve to collect the smooth powder. If needed, sieve and grind again. Cool it down and store it in an airtight container.
