Ingredients

  • Ragi Flour - 2 tbsp
  • Apple - 2 small sized apple or 1 big apple
  • Organic Jaggery powder/dates syrup - 1 tsp optional
  • Homemade Ghee - ½ tsp
  • Water - ¾ cup

Instructions

Preparation

  • Sterilize the bowls and spoons used for feeding your baby in a vessel with hot water for five minutes and keep it immersed in the same vessel until use.

Method

  • Keep all the ingredients ready. Peel the apple with a peeler. Remove the seeds.
  • Puree the apple using a blender without adding any water. For blending i use
  • Philips Avent Combined Steamer and Blender
  • Add 2 tablespoon of ragi into a saucepan. Then add ¾ cup of water to it. Mix it well with a whisk so that no lumps are formed.
  • Cook the ragi in low medium flame for 5 minutes or until the ragi gets cooked completely and becomes shiny. Stir it continuously while cooking otherwise it may stick to the vessel. Once its cooked add grated apples, ghee and jaggery powder (if using).
  • Mix well. Cook it further for 3 more minutes with continuous stirring. Switch off the flame when it becomes thick. The halwa becomes little thick after cooling down. So switch off the flame accordingly.
