- Drumsticks - 2 nos
- Toor dal - ½ cup
- Small onions - 10 nos
- Tomato - 1 small
- Green chillies - 2 splitted
- Hing - ¼ tsp
- Tamarind - big gooseberry sized
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Sambar powder - 2 heaped tsp
- Water - as needed
- Salt - as required
To Temper
- Oil/ghee - 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Urad dal - 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds - ¼ tsp
- Red chillies - 2
Method
Heat a teaspoon of oil in a kadai and small onions.Saute them well for 5 minutes or until they turn brown. Add tomatoes, green chillies and fry them until soft and mushy.
Once the tomatoes are cooked well, add drumsticks and fry it for a minute. Then add sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt. Fry it for another minute. Then add tamarind water and mix it well. Bring it to a boil.
