- Poha/ Aval/ Flattened Rice/Beaten Rice - 1 cup
- Broccoli - 1 medium sized florets comes to ¾ cup
- Onions - 1 small
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Lemon Juice - 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - to garnish
- Water - as needed
- Salt - as required
- To Temper:
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds - ½ tsp
- Urad dal - ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
- Bengal Gram Dal - ½ tsp
- Hing - ⅛ tsp
Wash broccoli and cut them into small florets. Cook the broccoli florets with little turmeric powder and a cup of water. Switch off the flame once done. Broccoli florets should be cooked well and crispy enough to bite.
Chop onions and coriander leaves. Take juice from lemon and keep it ready. Wash and soak poha in water until its soft enough to mash. Squeeze the water completely from poha once it's soft.
Heat oil in a pan and add the items to temper one by one. Saute until mustard seeds & cumin seeds cracks, urad dal and bengal gram dal turns brown. Then add onions and saute until it's transparent.
Then add cooked broccoli florets and toss it well.
Then add soaked poha with required salt and mix well. Cook everything covered for two to three minutes and switch off the flame, add lemon juice & garnish with coriander leaves.
